A very different approach to minimum award increases has been announced this week by the Fair Work Commission, and one of the lowest increases seen in recent times.
This year you could be waiting until February 2021 for an increase in your pay packet. In a bold move the Fair Work Commission has created 3 Award clusters. Depending on the industry you work in, will determine when you may be eligible for the 1.75 percent minimum wage increase. In summary the three groups are;
Group 1 Awards – Increase from 1st of July 2020
- Frontline Healthcare & Social Assistance Workers
- Teachers & Childcare
- Other Essential Services
Group 2 Awards – Increase from 1st of November 2020
- Construction
- Manufacturing
- A Range of Other Industries
Group 3 Awards – Increase from 1st of February 2021
- Accommodation and Food Services
- Arts and Recreational Services
- Aviation
- Retail
- Tourism
